The AD500 Rig is a multi
purpose, top head drive, track mounted rig, which can be used for open hole,
reverse circulation or wireline diamond drilling in PQ,
HQ or NQ size. This drill has been set up to drill angle holes between 45
and 90 degrees for mineral exploration work, and can also drill horizontal
drillholes for applications such as mine wall drainage and depressurization.
The rig can drill to depths
of 250 meters in PQ size core or 500 meters in HQ.
The rig typically achieves 20
- 40 meters per shift for HQ core drilling and 100 meters per shift for open
hole or RC drilling.
The rig is used for fully
cored holes, where geotechnical samples and coal samples are required, or in
special applications such as angle hole or horizontal drilling. The rig is very
mobile and can be used in steep terrain, however requires the assistance of a
bulldozer for road and drill pad construction and a water truck for water
cartage.
